Happy Birthday Jon Jon
Today is my son's 17th birthday. The years have gone by so fast. It seems it was only yesterday that he was taking his first steps, or saying Mama for the first time.
He was born at 12:03am, so we waited up last night my daughter and me because we wanted to be the first ones wishing him a happy birthday.

Today I wanted to take him to the Olive Garden, because that is his favorite restaurant, but instead he said he wanted his sister to make him a lasagna, and of course he got his wish. That girl sees thru his eyes. She adores him.
He can't complained, he got a bunch of phone calls, e-mails and birthday wishes on his facebook. This year everyone remembered his birthday!

Once again Happy Birthday to my baby boy, because no matter how old you are, you will always be my baby boy. I love you with all my heart. You are the best son, a mother could ask for.

The other day I was at Dunkin Donuts buying some gift cards. I gave the girl the credit card to pay for them. She does the whole transaction, and hands me over the gift cards, only without the little card holders to put them in. I asked her for the, and she gets annoyed. I dont know why because if you are purchasing a gift card for someone, you should put it in one of those gift card holders.

She looks in the rack and gives me only one and says she has no more, mind you, there were about 15 to 20 gift cards there and 1 card holder. I asked her to look in one of the drawers or somewhere in the store for the other 2 card holders I needed because I was giving them as gifts. She looks at me like I have 3 heads, and simply tells me "we dont have any", I was annoyed at this point and just said, "then I want only one card and my money back for the other 2", she then proceeds to give me the credit on the credit card, does the whole process, and just looks at me to leave, and looks at the next customer to take care of them. I said "can I get my receipts?", she looks at me again this time like I have 4 heads never mind 3, and actually said "You want the receipt??" with a puzzled look on her face, at this point I was so shocked at her stupidity that I just started laughing, and said "of course I want my receipt, what do you think?".

Now this is somebody that deals with customers and money on a daily basis, shouldnt she be trained for both, or do they just pick up people off the street and offer them a job behind the counter in Dunkin Donuts not caring about how they handle their job?? Humm!!! that is the kind of job I need, totally "Stress Free"

A friend sent me this and it made me cry, but its so beautiful that I have to share it.

THE BRICK

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down
when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared . Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver
then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic. 'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the brick because no one else would stop...' With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. 'It's my brother, 'he said. 'He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up.'

Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me.'

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. 'Thank you and may God bless you,' the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy! push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: 'Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!' God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

Thought for the Day:

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.

He sends you flowers every spring.

He sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

It's incredible how used we have gotten to modern technology. 15 years ago I didn't have a cell phone, and I didn't NEED a cell phone, but I have gotten so used/dependent on it that I can't leave home without it, and when I do like I did today, I feel totally lost, out of touch with the world, and scared that I might miss an important phone call. It feels like I left my house and forgot to put on my clothes.
The cell phone has become a necessity in my life, this morning I didn't even know what time it was because I normally look at my cell phone for the time. I am worried my daughter won't be able to call me on her way to basketball practice, or my son when he gets home from school. Or that I might miss an important call from one of my friends or from my mother.
Incredible but true!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I can't believe another year has gone by. Wasn't it just the other day that we were ringing in 2008?? In my wacky, super fast life, this year went by in a blink of an eye.

Sometimes I would love to stop time for a while, my kids are getting so big its incredible. This year its been hectic, because not only do I have my mother in a rehab/nursing home recovering from a stroke, but my son is a junior in high school, so he is already taking the SATs and we started visiting colleges, and my daughter is graduating from 8th grade, which means ring ceremony, working on yearbook pages for her, visiting and choosing a high school, graduation party.

Crazy, Crazy but fun, fun!!

New year, 2009, hopefully it will be better than last year, and like every year we make resolutions. Mine are very simple, and God willing I am going to stick to them.
1. Put my finances in order, including cutting down on expending money and paying down credit card balances, and paying all bills on time.
2. Keeping in touch with my friends via phone, or e-mail.
3. Stop being a procrastinator.
and the one resolution I make every year "loose weight". Lets see if I can handle that one!!!! LOL!!

Well, Happy New Year!!!
